Calling Utopia Across The Tasman!
Think Bic and Boh Runga, Neil and Tim Finn, Jared and Shannon Leto, The Veronicas, Joel and Benji Madden, Bill and Tom Kaulitz, and it becomes instantly clear that sibling success runs rife in the music industry. Calling Utopia’s song savvy sisters Sarah and Jess Renehan are no exception.

Maybe it’s sibling magic that brings their songs to life on stage and in the studio. Effortless pop harmonies and catchy hooks prevail as the sisters’ vocal leads weave in and around each other in a dance that’s irresistible. With bass man Tom Schumacher and English born punk drummer Tony Long keeping the girls on their toes, Calling Utopia delight most of all in the response they elicit live from their fans.

Kiwi audiences are set to heed the utopian call when the Australian based rockers hit New Zealand shores this September. The tour will mark the beginning of what promises to be a long term relationship with Calling Utopia’s Kiwi fans who have already begun to embrace their debut album ‘XIII’ (Thirteen). Gig-goers can look forward to a setlist of hits from the album and little a taste of what’s to come from the quartet.

A personal and professional triumph of sorts, the band’s New Zealand tour champions the entrepreneurial ‘crowd-funding’ model that sees fans pledging and pooling their money together for their favourite artist to reach a targeted goal. Calling Utopia used the platform Pozible.com to rally fans for their NZ tour.

For fans of Elemeno P, Hey Monday, early Veronicas, Avril Lavigne, We The Kings and alike, catching Calling Utopia live is a must! The NZ tour, supported by Kiwi up-and-comers Ninja Monkey and Chelsea Theory, hits the following venues this spring:

September 6th & 7th – Rising Sun, Auckland
September 8th – Yot Club, Raglan
September 13th – The Cabana, Napier
September 14th- The Royal, Palmerston North
September 15th- Medusa, Wellington
